Stainless construction steel belongs to the most frequently used steels for refining steel and surface annealing. High strength and toughness are its distinctive features. In its refined state, it is resistant against wear. Steel has higher deep hardenability. Temper brittleness does not occur.

Due to the danger of hardening cracks, synthetic polymers and oil is recommended as hardening environment. To achieve steady values after refining, standardized annealing before refining is recommended at higher diameters (forged).
For more frequently used machine parts where high strength and high toughness is needed, especially arbors and connecting parts of motor vehicles, e.g. piston-rods, crankshafts, drive shafts, cogwheels. Also for tools for stamping tools and forming tools, e.g. protecting matrices, strips, water rails, conduits.
Stress-relief annealing 620 - 660°C
Soft annealing 680 - 720°C
Hardening 820 - 880°C

Tempering 540 - 680°C
